Here’s a little inspiration for today’s Picture Book Month theme of insects!

We’re reading The Jazz Fly by Matthew Gollub!  It’s about a jazz fly who finds his way to town for a concert with an insect band!  It’s a really cute read!

I’m also going to have the kids make these cute flies after we read the story. All you need is a rock, two oval shaped leaves, paint or markers, and glue.

Paint or use markers to make a face and then attach the leaves!  We’ll recycle these back outside when we’re done playing!

Check out my earlier post about seahorses for Picture Book month and feel free to add to my linkup.

What is your favorite picture book about insects?
