Once homeschool students reach middle school, many parents don’t feel that comfortable teaching all of the material themselves. It’s hard to be an expert in every subject area! A great option for middle and high school science are self-paced online homeschool science classes and labs. Having self paced classes allows a lot of flexibility for the family schedule with the added benefit of being able to review the lesson more than once if needed.

My son is currently taking the Greg Landry Young Scientist Anatomy & Physiology course. The format of the course has been great for my son. The recorded lessons are around 20-30 minutes each and can be used at your convenience throughout the school year. The course comes with a PDF download that we have stored in a binder. The file includes fill in pages for note taking and questions at the end of each chapter.
I absolutely loved how the first chapter focused on organization and note-taking! It’s one of the most important skills in learning and so often gets overlooked.
The PDF has been especially valuable in providing extra practice and helping him with note-taking skills. Many of the pages in the PDF are also designed for the student to be able to fill in the important info with out having to write everything down. This is perfect for my son, who doesn’t love a lot of writing. Plus, this will be a great resource that he creates that he can use for review down the road.
Each chapter has questions at the end that we use as an assignment. I like to sit down and go through the questions with my son to make sure he’s really understanding the concepts. He enjoys watching the videos and really retains the information well.
They Greg Landry College Prep Science classes are available in different age ranges starting in 4th grade up through high school. The are christ-centered and include video and support from a veteran science Teacher. I highly recommend checking them out if you’re looking for a science course!
