Get the Taste You Want

I’m a total water snob. With bottled waters, I have some brands that I prefer over others. I can easily taste the difference. If you’re buying bottled water, try out different brands to find the one you like best.

At home, consider getting a water filter if you don’t like the taste of your tap water.

I also like to add flavor to my water occasionally to make it more interesting. My favorite way to do this is with True Lemon Packets. They come in different flavors, and add just a hint of flavor to the water with natural ingredients.

You can also buy water infusion pitchers to add fruit to your water. My kids really like that option. If you need some inspiration, check out these fruit infused water recipes.

Just make sure to rinse with plain water if you’re drinking fruit infused water to protect your teeth. This is especially important for preventing cavities in kids.

Be More Active

Not only is being more active, good for you, but it can also increase your thirst and make you actually WANT to drink more water! Give it a try!

Get the kids moving, too! If they’re active, they’ll be asking for more water.

Set Reminders and Keep it Handy

When I’m working on the computer, I keep a glass of water nearby. I’m not likely to stop what I’m doing to go get a drink, so I try to bring one with me when I get started.

I would suggest setting a timer for the kids. If the timer goes off, it’s time to take a break from playing to have a drink!

Getting a new water bottle can also get the kids more excited about drinking. These are a great gift idea and will help keep their teeth healthy during the holidays.

Get Rid of Sugary Drinks

If you drink a lot of sugary drinks, you probably won’t want as much water. Save the juice and soda for really special occasions and keep a pitcher of water in your fridge instead.

  1. Drinking water is so darn important for everyone. We love the true lemon packets, easier for on th go instead of cutting a lemon! I love the crystal light peach green tea. Reminders are great too so helpful.

  2. Thankfully water is all that I really drink! One important thing my parents did and I will do as well, is never give young children soda! Carbonation was (and still kind of is) painful to me, as it was never introduced. My daughter is four and hates it too, so I’m glad that was one healthy habit instilled in me that I’ll pass on to her.

  3. Thanks for sharing these helpful tips! I always forget to drink water until my head starts pounding and we all know that’s not good for you!
