We spent a night at Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs last weekend. It’s a great staycation for us, but I’m always looking for ways to save money. In this post, I’m going to tell you how to visit on a budget and how to get the most value out of your stay!
Book the Standard Room
Their themed suites are really cool! However, if you’re trying to save money, you can get by with standard room. Even the standard room are pretty spacious. You’ll save at least $50 per night by skipping the upgrade.
Arrive Starting at 1pm
Even before check in time, you can start enjoying the water park. If you choose to do this, I suggest bringing a separate bag for your swim essentials and leaving the rest of your luggage in the car. The water park tends to be the least busy mid-afternoon, so this is a great time to get in there and enjoy!
Enjoy Storytime, Yoga and other Free Activities
Great Wolf Lodge offers an evening story time along with a character visit. There is also morning yoga and a show. These activities are completely free and included with your stay. Arrive on the early side to get a good spot!
Enjoy the Water Park after Check Out Time
You need to be out of your room by 11am, but you can keep using the water park all day! Once again, you’ll want to keep a separate swim bag if you choose to do this. They do have lockers, but we’ve never had an issue leaving our bag on a chair.
Bring some of your own Food
The rooms have a microwave and a mini fridge, so you don’t need to buy all of your meals. I literally see people wheeling coolers into the elevators after checking in. We always bring dinner along for the first night and eat in the room. It’s also a good idea to have a good stash of snacks. All of that water play made my kids even hungrier than normal! You can’t technically can’t bring outside food into the water park, although I did see a few people with small items. There is a snack bar inside the water park. Pricing is in the $5-10 range with your typical burgers, hot dogs, fries, etc.
Other Paid Activities
Great Wolf offers the Paw Pass which allows you to try out the non-water activities like mini-golf and the ropes course. If you’re just going to be there for a one night stay, you probably won’t have time for all this. If you have more than one child in your family, they can each do a few activities from a single pass rather than buying multiple passes.
