DIY for Dad ** King of the Grill Apron for Father’s Day

We made this King of the Grill Apron as a Father’s Day gift this year. It is a simple idea that you can easily customize. We used fabric paint on our apron. All three of my kids were able to help with the painting and add their hand prints to make the lion head. It works well for a wide range of ages!

We cut out the letters for DAD and taped it onto the apron, holding the centers of the letters in place. I printed two copies of the flame, so each area could be painted separately.

King of the Grill Apron Instructions

Make sure to put cardboard or newspaper behind your apron because the fabric paint may bleed through.

My youngest painted the bottom of the grill, because that was the easiest shape. The letters are a bit more tricky. I had to hold the centers of the letters in place while they were painted.

To make the hand print lion, we used two colors of paint. We put the gold on first, let it dry and then added the orange.
